In maths we have been working hard partitioning numbers to 50.  We had fun working out how many tens and how many ones make up each number.

In Literacy we have been learning about poetry. We listened to a poem called 'Rosemary Rudd' by John Foster. His poem was all about describing mud! We decided to describe different things like: sand, water, oats and rice krispies and then we worked together to create our own poems like 'Rosemary Rudd'. We hope you like them.

Rosemary Rudd
By John Foster

Rosemary Rudd

Says, “I like mud!”

It’s squelchy! It’s gooey!

It’s sticky! It’s gluey!

You can pick it up and hold it.

You can shape it. You can mould it.

It slips and it slops.

It drips and it drops.

It gets between your fingers.

It gets between your toes.

It gets itself all over you –

It gets right up your nose!

It gets on your ears.

It gets in your hair.

But Rosemary Rudd says,

“I don’t care!”

Autumn Term

On Monday 4th December Year 1 visited the Trinity Church Centre to take part in a Christingle service. We had a wonderful time making our own Christingle, singing hymns and doing crafts.

On Wednesday 18th October we were lucky to have Stewart and Chris from 'Travelling by Tuba' visit our school. We loved listening to all the different instruments from around the world and watching them perform. After that we got to play some of the instruments ourselves.
